Update: Ponce City Market

Wednesday, May 6th, 2015

Ponce City Market is often referred to as the coolest new attraction in Atlanta. Its development has been covered extensively, and its opening is eagerly awaited. Not as well known are the challenges faced during construction of this massive landmark.

Ponce City Market is a historic building: originally constructed in 1926, the building was home to Sears Roebuck and Co. retail store, warehouse, and headquarters until 1979. Despite attempts by the city of Atlanta to relocate offices there, the building has been largely uninhabited since the 80’s. A building of this size and age requires a significant amount of remediation and restoration before it is safe to inhabit. Remediation Group was honored to work with the development and construction firm Jamestown on this important project. Remediation Group worked for months to scrape and blast every inch of Ponce City Market to ensure that it would be ready for the apartments, retail shops, food court, and schools that will occupy the space.

Remediation Group is thrilled to see our hard work pay off as Ponce City Market opens to the public. Restoring Ponce City Market wasn’t easy, but it was well worth it! Take a sneak peak inside construction with our photos below.

Update: Ponce City Market

Wednesday, March 11th, 2015

For months now, Remediation Group has been working on the remediation and restoration of Ponce City Market. If you haven’t heard of Ponce City Market, it’s gigantic mixed-use development inside the former Sears, Roebuck & Company building. This building required a massive amount of mold remediation; luckily Remediation Group was up to the challenge. After much hard work, Ponce City Market is nearly ready to open!

Ponce City Market is located in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, right off of the incredibly popular Beltline. The Market will feature a food court and retail shops, with loft apartments and offices on the upper floors. The location of Ponce City, as well as its diverse offering of shops and restaurants, will surely make it an instant hit with both Atlanta locals and visitors.

Remediation Group is so honored to be a part of the renovation and restoration of Ponce City Market. As with the rest of Atlanta, we are eagerly waiting its completion!

Beautiful Atlanta Restoration

Wednesday, March 4th, 2015

This gorgeous and unique mansion is located in the Kirkwood neighborhood at Atlanta, not far from downtown Decatur. The post-Victorian home features a traditional floor plan with a large and functional kitchen, two sitting rooms, and spacious bedrooms. Unfortunately this hidden 1910 gem fell into disrepair. The home likely suffered from decaying wood, slight water damage, and mold growth. Luckily, this mansion was scooped up and renovated for 16 months. The restoration focused on preserving the home’s original character while adding modern amenities. The result is stunning: a beautiful Atlanta home packed full of historic charm.

Winter Storm Warning

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015

A winter storm warning is in effect today and tomorrow for Atlanta and neighboring counties. We have a very good chance of seeing a couple inches of snowfall along with freezing temperatures. Snow accumulation can cause tree limbs and power lines to go down, while such low temperatures puts pipes at risk of freezing and bursting.

While the rest of the city is shut down, Remediation Group will be hard at work keeping your homes and businesses safe. Please call our emergency hotline if you are dealing with property damage due to this winter storm. No problem is too big for Remediation Group: we are your one stop shop for building remediation, restoration, and reconstruction. Remediation Group to the rescue!

Remediation Group Rescues MARTA

Tuesday, January 27th, 2015

Remediation Group rescued MARTA from shutting down it’s 5 Point Station this past weekend.  Located in downtown Atlanta, 5 Point Station is one of MARTA’s busiest stations. Disaster struck when the sewer pump failed and caused the bathrooms to be shut down immediately. Our Emergency Response Team was called in to develop a septic water extraction plan. Our team of expects developed a continuous extraction process that allowed MARTA to reopen their bathrooms after only shutting restrooms down for one evening, allowing passengers limited interruption. Remediation Group remained available to MARTA 24/7 until a new sewer pump was sourced and installed. CEO Fred Rodriquez comments, “It was definitely a challenge but our team responded quickly and brainstormed a detailed solution with the right equipment and manpower.” The whole team at Remediation Group is proud of the work we did for MARTA and its users.
